We from TTSMG recently encountered the Xiaomi Trimmer and we decided to review it.
This is a review of the recently launched product of Xiaomi in its first-ever personal grooming range.
The Xiaomi Mi Beard Trimmer was released this year on 25th June and was available from 27th June at Mi.com, Amazon, and Mi Home for ₹ 1,199/-. The contents of the box are shown in the picture below and are discussed further below.

The front of the box indicates briefly the device specifications and displays a photo of the device. Product description is listed on the back of the box. The sides of the box only show the words Mi Beard Trimmer. The price listed on the box is 1,499/- though it is available for 1,199/- through the official Mi website, Amazon and Mi home. This product was brought from Amazon.
The Trimmer sports an all matte black look and is ergonomic. It is made up of ABS plastic and the texture is great. The dial which controls the height is made up of metal has textured concentric circles along with markings.
Rotating the dial clockwise, increases the height and rotating it anti-clockwise reduces the height of the comb attachment. In order to remove the comb attachment safely, the dial has to be set to the largest value i.e. 10, after which the attachment can be removed by pulling the comb up from the side of the two screws.
The trimmer can be turned on or off by pressing the power button once.
The device can be locked by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds which is indicated by the flashing led indicators. Similarly the lock can be removed by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds, after which the trimmer turns on.
The dial goes from 0.5 to 10 mm in 0.5 mm increments for the first comb attachment. The second attachment allows for trimming heights from 10.5 mm to 20 mm.
The attachments have an extended comb side towards the trimming edge, which collects the cut hair, reducing the mess one gets while shaving or trimming one's hair. The trimmer is specifically designed for trimming/ shaving facial hair.
The trimmer blades are made up of stainless-steel and are self-sharpening. They are pre-lubricated and do not require to be lubricated for quite a long time. If lubrication is required, it is recommended to use coconut oil by applying it to the underside of the trimmer blades where it is marked 'open'.
The trimmer has an IPX7 rating which is the same waterproof rating as that of the Apple Watch. It can be cleaned and washed in water, however it should not be kept immersed in water for more than half an hour or kept underwater at a depth more than a meter. A brush is included in the box for cleaning the device.
The box includes a charging cable, but does not include a charger. A 5V/2A charger is recommended for charging the device, however, lower amperage values can also charge the device but slower. The device can also be charged by power banks. The device can be charged for 5 mins to get a 10 min cordless use time, or it can be charged for 2 hours to get 90 mins of cordless use time.
The Trimmer can be used in both cordless (battery use) or corded use (connected to mains/ connected to power bank). A travel pouch is also included to store the device along with its accessories.
