Lenovo recently announced that will give an option to buy Lenovo ThinkPad P Series Laptop and ThinkStation Desktop with Ubuntu Linux LTS Edition pre-installed starting this summer.

After the recent announcement of partnership with Fedora to ship ThinkPad P series with Fedora Linux and to provide updates through Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS).

Lenovo plans to capture and win linux desktop and laptops market share. They want to win the hearts of the Linux community.

This tells us that Linux market share will be increasing as Lenovo accompanies 25.1% market share and is a top vendor (as per IDC reports shared by Tech Radar) when it comes to commercial and business class computers and workstation.

Lenovo now will give following operating system options when purchasing ThinkPad P series and ThinkStation Desktop -
  • Ubuntu LTS Edition Linux
  • Fedora Linux
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Windows 10

This is good news for Linux ever growing Community. Because it will push more and more vendors to ship linux preloaded in their systems.

We are super excited for this, are you?
