Chinese smartphone giants Xiaomi released the much-awaited Redmi Note 5, Note 5 pro; the successors to its highly successful Redmi Note 4. The launch was met with much fervor and anticipation which has reflected in the product sales. In its first flash sale, the Redmi Note 5 Pro sold 300,000 units in just 3 minutes!

During the unveiling video shared by Xiaomi on February 14th, 2018, the Note 5 Pro was shown to have Face Unlock features installed. To read more about the launch, specs click here. However, reviewers and initial users were disappointed to find out that the feature was not present on the phone.

The Redmi Note 5 will have an 18:9 aspect ratio with a bezel-less display. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will likely sport a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The Snapdragon 625 variant will come with 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB storage, while the Snapdragon 636 processor variant is said to have 3/4/6GB RAM and 32/64GB storage


Much to the joy of users and potential buyers, Xiaomi has pushed an OTA update which enables the phone to use Face Unlock. The new update V9.2.4.0 NEIMIEK update brings Face Unlock and some bug fixes.
