Recently, Tencent studios launched two games based on PUBG on the mobile OS platforms Android and iOS.
Namely, PUBG:Army Attack, which is an arcade styled PUBG game with additional feature of naval warfare which was not there in the original gameplay. This game was developed by Timi Studios, which is a Tencent affiliated group.
And, no the game is not a Chinese rip-off but a partnership between Bluehole, the original company behind PUBG and Tencent. This came to be due to Tencent investing in Bluehole a while back.
The second game, closely embodies the original PUBG aesthetic and gameplay, its name, PUBG: Exhilarating Battlefield, developed by the Tencent entities Lightspeed and Quantum Studios.
These games topped the download charts in iOS and already had 75 million pre-registrations. Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners, a notable game analyst stated that the demand for a mobile platform based PUBG was huge considering these facts.
Both the games were based on Unreal Engine 4 and are currently available only in China.
However, considering their current performance, Tencent studios will be looking for an international launch of the game in the near future.
The games are still in the early access phase and only available in China. The game is suffering from low frame rates, which is evident from the gameplay footage.
